Dear LASC Members,

I’d like to begin this newsletter by expressing our gratitude to Rob Potts for his many years of dedication and service to the Louisville Adult Soccer Club. Rob served four years as club president and even more as vice president and primary coordinator for the Bourbon Cup. Personally, I’ll never forget when Rob and Stuart called me over after a weekend game at Woehrle. I thought they were about to tell me my soccer skills were hopeless… While that may still be true, instead, they asked me to help with the club’s technology efforts. From that moment on, I learned firsthand from the best how to organize a crew of soccer-loving adults who just want to play as often as possible.

While the Bourbon Cup began as Stuart’s idea, Rob elevated it into a major annual event over the years. Even after stepping down as president two years ago, he continued to serve on our board through the end of 2025. His leadership and dedication leave a lasting legacy. As a token of our appreciation, we secured a lovely engraved bottle of Woodford Reserve commemorating his contributions and a custom jersey, which most of the club members had a chance to sign over the past month.

We also want to thank Nate Wiselogel for his tremendous work as our club ambassador. Many old-school members may not realize that Nate has personally responded to every inquiry and introduction email for several years, helping grow our community and make newcomers feel welcome. His kindness and consistency have been a huge part of our success.

“Thank you for letting me be part of the leadership efforts over the past 10+ years. We wouldn’t have been successful without the buy-in of every past and present member of our club! We have an excellent leadership team in place right now, but keep in mind that we’re always looking for the next person to step up! If you wanna help with something, reach out.” – Rob Potts

Welcoming New Board Members

With Rob and Nate stepping off the board, we’ve updated our bylaws to expand the board and ensure strong leadership moving forward.

Please join me in welcoming Lewie Stevens, James Prather, and Hoss Tavak to the LASC Board of Directors. Their commitment and energy will help shape our next chapter. If you’ve played on Tuesday evenings you’ve already seen Lewie’s natural ability to help organize on-field activities by rapidly distributing the teams. James is a natural greeter for the club and will be taking over Nate’s ambassador responsibilities. Hoss, being one of the best technical players in our club, is helping ensure that we elevate and maintain our level of play in a safe and responsible way. Thank you for your willingness to step up and help.

Non-Profit Status and Financial Progress

I’m proud to officially share that Louisville Adult Soccer Club is now an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, separate from CCSA. This milestone reflects the passion and dedication of everyone involved.

For several years, our club operated at a financial deficit, and the Bourbon Cup’s success helped us avoid raising membership dues. Thanks to careful budgeting, vendor negotiations, and stronger community partnerships, 2025 marked our first profitable year since before COVID.

To celebrate, we finished 2025 / began 2026 with a $5,000 donation to the Lou City & Racing Foundation, one of several initiatives this year aimed at giving back to the soccer community that supports us.

Rainy Day but we played

Looking Ahead

Our club’s strength lies in its players – you. Week after week, rain or shine, we show up to play not just for the competition, but for the friendships, fitness, and sense of belonging this community provides.

We keep injuries low, tempers cooler than our average age would predict, and the matches fun and welcoming. That’s no small feat, and it’s something we can all take pride in. Here’s to another great year of soccer, camaraderie, and staying just fit enough to keep up with each other.

Sincerely,
Andrew Aebersold
